I love this post by my gal @nicolemjardim: ・・・
With all the torture we inflict on our vaginas these days – waxing, lasering, chemical-laden douches, synthetic tampons and pads, antibiotics, hormonal birth control, vaginal rejuvenation surgery, bleaching, spermicides...I could go on and on – I’m frankly shocked at the backlash in the media about vaginal steaming.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s mind-blowing to me that everything I listed above is considered completely normal and okay, but sitting over a bowl of hot water and herbs for 30 minutes is going to ruin our health. I mean seriously?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What’s ruining our health is all the toxic sh*t we keep putting into our bodies, not vaginal steaming, a traditional practice that’s been used by women for a very long time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I believe we should be asking how we can better take care of women, rather than bashing them for their personal health choices. Especially since we live in a country where maternal mortality is rising, C-sections and hysterectomies are the first and second most common surgeries among women and 58% of women on birth control use it for other reasons than birth control – regulating periods, acne, painful periods etc.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you tried it vaginal steaming? Let me know your experience in the comments below. : @sarashakeel

Important #Repost by @tellbetterstories2018 (check her out!). Reading posts like these reaffirms why I committed to sobriety 320 days ago!

“With so much happening in the conversation around women and alcohol, as well as women challenging the status quo in every area, it is vital that we understand context and history. Ann Dowsett Johnston @anndowsettjohnstob is a journalist with more than 40 years of experience, has written about women and alcohol for eight years, and is widely regarded as the leading voice in conversations taking place around our this subject. I recently spoke with her about what has changed since the publication of her acclaimed book Drink: The Intimate Relationship Between Women and Alcohol five years ago. Some highlights:
.
.
As we know, The data around women and drinking is startling. This has coincided with the normalization of binge drinking throughout pop culture, in marketing and media, and through the proliferation of social media. Companies no longer really need to advertise alcohol because we do t for them.
.
Ann says that today's mom/wine culture is a key issue in women's health. She draws parallels between problematic drinking in the 60s, which looked different (booze and Valium, aka Mother's Little Helpers,) but is closely tied to mom wine culture celebrated today.
.
Like me, Ann is not a prohibitionist. But she does advocate that we ask ourselves the question of why, both collectively and individually. Why is is mommy’ little helper coming back? Why are so many of us drinking so much?
•
On a personal note, Ann’s pioneering work and her transparency about her own sobriety inspired me to:
.
A)Ask myself “why” about my drinking, long before I stopped. .
.
B)To create the Tell Better Stories Project. When I read “Drink” I was still deep in the hole: making pretty magazine images while believing I needed to drink to deal with life. She is the torch bearer, and now begins a new chapter of her life.

Complaining is often used as a way to prompt conversation. And often times we complain without even realizing it (I’m no exception). Problem is it decreases our energetic frequency attracting similar low level frequencies. And I mean, if that what we want? Or how we want to live?
.
So today, what if we chose to be mindful instead? Catch yourself complaining and immediately turn it around. This will take practice but let’s get there together and collectively raise some good juju.
.
Happy Saturday beauties!

What are you grateful for? Here’s my list for the week:
.
1. Grateful for this little fart in a windstorm. Bodhi (my dog) never leaves my side and forces me to take breaks and get outside.
.
2. Grateful for my team. There are a lot of people behind the scenes who make what I do possible. I love them like family.
.
3. Grateful for going back to the gym and that I was able to apply mascara despite shaker arms.
.
4. Grateful for my husband who brought home flowers today for no reason. Also grateful that he agreed to be on camera for an episode of My Hormonal Journey: A Behind The Scenes Look on IGtv. That episode airs in two Sundays from now but I do have a spanking new episode launching THIS Sunday.
.
5. Grateful for books. But I swear I have an Amazon Prime addiction.
.
6. Grateful for dirty dishes cus it means I was fed.
.
7. Grateful for my network of patients, fans, followers and Ballers. You inspire me daily ️

Do you love blackberries? If so, how do you like having them? Here are some tips about blackberries you may not know about:
.
They're a mild diuretic and astringent in nature and therefore useful int he cases of diarrhea and even candida (a damp-forming condition according to Chinese Medicine)
The Romans use to use them as a treatment for gout!
Blackberries are tridoshic according to Ayurvedic Medicine and are best in moderation if you're very vata in nature. From a Western Nutrition perspective, they're loaded with vitamin C and pectin so love up those adrenals and eat some blackberries!

I just tried this epic Roasted Red Pepper dish from Bon Appetite and used goat cheese (which in small amounts I can handle).
.
.
Red peppers are now in season and they contain THREE TIMES more vitamin C than an orange! And guess which part of your hormonal system loves vitamin C? Your adrenals!
I love crunching on these bad boys raw or blistering them up so they're charred and roasted so that they're sweetness comes out.
.
But am I the only one who hates green peppers?

You CAN break patterns.
You are NOT your genes (genes are influenced by its environment). Just because someone in your family was an alcoholic, suffered with thyroid issues, had mental health issues, had a hysterectomy, etc. doesn’t mean you’re destined for the same fate!
You CAN make changes in your health to change the course of your life!
.
.
Believe me, you have WAY MORE power than you think.

GRAIN-FREE PANCAKES ANYONE?🥞🤤
.
Sometimes on weekends, or even on day 1 of my period when I'm craving something carby, I'll make these grain-free pancakes. They're delicious and so easy to make. In fact, when I made them for my team on our staff retreat in Nicaragua earlier this year, they LOVED them! Here's how to make these beauties:
.
1 large green plantain, peeled
2 eggs
1 tsp organic vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
¼ tsp baking soda (aluminum free)
1/8 tsp sea salt
Coconut oil for cooking
.
Combine everything in a food processor or blender and then pour into a ceramic pan or a well-seasoned cast iron skillet over medium heat. Let pancake bubble and wait til the edges turn brown. Carefully flip and cook the flip side. Repeat steps and top with berries, nut butter or maple syrup (cus I'm Canadian and proud!)

ARE YOUR OVARIAN CYSTS ACTUALLY ACTING AS SPIRITUAL SPEED BUMPS? 🧐
.
Here is a thought I'd like you to consider: your ovarian cysts may actually be trying to get you to slow down.
.
Slow down from the hustle.
Slow down from your over consumption of social media and TV and get to bed.
Slow down and set boundaries with people and maybe even ask for help.
Slow down and assess your life and ask yourself, what will it take for me to live authentically?🤔
Slow down and consider the relationships you're in and ask yourself, is this really serving me and my higher purpose?
Slow down and deal with the issues you may be drowning with alcohol or stuffing with carbs/sugar.🥐
.
Every single time I've struggled with ovarian cysts I've struggled with one (or more like many) of the issues I wrote above. I was in a dysfunctional relationship, I overworked myself🤕, I gave until my well ran dry and had zero boundaries. I drank because I had a hard day or because I've been good all week (then i'd binge because well, rosé all day right?) and I sipped on the borrowed energy I got from coffee ️because I was up late because heck, that was my only ME time.
.
My cysts bursted like popcorn and I HATED my body🤬. But the cysts weren't the problem. It was just REVEALING one. Mindset plays a MAJOR role in hormonal issues, so have you considered the spiritual meaning behind your cysts? What do they mean to you?🤔
