Nothing better than when a place really does live up to the hype! It was tough to hike the 10 miles out here after finishing up 80 miles in Patagonia just a few days prior, but when I saw Havasu Falls, I knew it was all worth it. I almost cried, it was so beautiful.

I sort of assumed that everyone was already familiar with Havasu Falls, but when I told friends about my plans to go here, it turned out that most of them had never heard of it! So, if it’s your first time discovering these baby blue falls, I hope you get a chance to see them one day! #AlamoDriveHappy.

I can't believe winter's basically over! We had such a beautiful year with so much rain and snow, I'm honestly going to miss it. Given, I wasn't here for most of the storms and just got to enjoy the beautiful greenery and flowers, but it's so rare that we get years like this out West, I enjoyed it so darn much. Don't get me wrong, summer is my favorite season out here, but I'll miss this year's abundant winter. Anyone else relate? (: @jgaleasvisuals)

They call it Spider Rock, and, while I’m not entirely sure why, I do know that this hidden gem in Arizona is super cool and it’s possible to have it all to yourself. It’s one of several lookout points in Canyon de Chelly (which it took me embarrassingly long to realize is pronounced “canyon de chay”). This is one of few things you can do in the area unguided, but it’s an easy one since you can drive right up to this overlook 30 minutes or so from the park entrance. This is one of my favorite places to discover in Arizona. I love it for the unique rock formation and lovely views all along the canyon wall, plus the lack of crowds. #AlamoDriveHappy

@alexinwanderland Iceland! What a dream trip 🌋🙌🏻💛

It took me 32 years, but I finally made it to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It’s hard to believe, but somehow “grand” feels like an understatement when talking about this vast, awe-inspiring place. It runs a mile deep and is carved by the Colorado River, which nourishes millions of us out west. What a moment, what a sight to behold.

I’ve partnered with @alamorentacar this year to see more of the amazing USA, with the intention of discovering new things and new aspects of popular places. This is from Lipan point, a lesser-visited viewpoint along the South Rim of the Canyon, but my personal favorite. #AlamoDriveHappy

There are some places that defy reality. There are some places that, no matter how much you build them up in your mind, still exceed your expectations. There are some places, like Havasupai, that are worth the two hours of trying to get permits and the 10-mile hike! I’ve partnered with @DSW - Designer Shoe Warehouse to bring in the warm summer, and to celebrate a day without hiking boots on while enjoying this incredible baby blue waterfall. Whenever I’m back home, I love popping in to see what @DSW - Designer Shoe Warehouse has, especially now that the summer stock is in! #MyDSW

Things I learned: freediving without fins and weights sure is more difficult (and decidedly less graceful ) but the brackish water of Barracuda lake made it possible. Didn’t see any barracudas, but look at that water clarity! Such cool rock formations under the surface. Swipe to see the video.

We showed up at the boat dock and asked to be taken anywhere that other boats weren’t, and it worked out perfectly. We got Barracuda lake, a little slice of beach, and moments at the sunken wreck all to ourselves just by timing it right. This photo series is of freediving at the brackish lake and droning over Coron, one of my favorite flights ever.

Last month @stevenger at @uproxx asked me to introduce him to the beauty of forest bathing amongst the Redwoods and I was like, yes, that is right up my alley! What is it? Forest bathing is a walking meditation with no goal other than to take in all of the sensory details of the nature around you and let it refresh and rejuvenate you. I know it sounds woo-woo but try it! It feels so good. I used to spend most of my time indoors but nowadays I truly feel the most comfortable outside, 5 days into a backpacking trip with no technology, (no showers! ), and no other people. Anybody else here feel that way too? Catch my stories and hit the link in my bio to see the full video! Thanks @ToyotaUS for giving us wheels for this adventure with the new RAV4 Hybrid. It was the perfect adventure vehicle #AdventureRX #sponsored

I stayed at a quiet little treehouse on the north side of Busuanga, the island with Coron town, and it was far away from the bustle and therefore perfect. Swimming in the mangroves at dusk with the dog, Buhay, as the tour guide, taking a little boat out to black island (pictured here) and enjoying the white sand, the mere handful of other people, the swimming holes in the caves, and freediving with the fish while trying to dodge the jellies (I’ve managed to get stung literally chin to toes this trip), it was the perfect getaway. Details coming soon on YouTube and the blog.

You can’t always be everywhere at the perfect time, but finding ways to enjoy the company in popular places like these makes it easier to just enjoy it. I remember the first time I came here over 6 years ago and there wasn’t a soul, but secrets don’t stay secret for long and timing is everything too. Still a beautiful place, no?

Palawan has been interesting to come back to. I first came 6 years ago to an almost empty Coron and joined a dive boat for 8 days, never seeing another soul. After Romblon this time, the touristy nature of Palawan has been a bit of a shock to the system. The friendliness seems to be gone and I miss it. I wonder if Camiguin and Bohol would have changed too? Which provinces are still untouched by major development and still have that friendliness? That’s the Philippines I know and love.
