🤹 Happy Monday! 🤸 Here's to another week of working hard, learning more good stuff and being good to people. 🧠 Remember that learning and trying to educate yourself on the experiences of other people is exactly what the world needs right now and if someone makes you feel like you're 'over-complicating' or 'being too sensitive' or 'being a millenial' just tell them that complex social issues need complex solutions and you're not going to be made to feel guilty for trying to make the world a better place for everyone Okay BYEEEE

I find myself ~extraordinarily~ lucky to be best mates with the person I shared a womb with. You can call us Womb Tang Clan . We're basically the same person, live in the same city and do similar jobs but for some very odd reason we've never worked together 🤔 However, with @wheatpraylove not able to host Nobody Panic Podcast – her and my sister's hilarious podcast on adulting – next month, Stevie asked me to guest host! Woo-hoo! ️🤸🤹 We'll be LIVE at @waterstonesgowerstreet on November 5th talking 'How to Organise Your Life' joined by fantastic guest @katfpoole (Editor of @emeraldstreetemail) who's book 'Being an Adult' is all about just that! This is Guy Fawkes night also so I may bring a scarecrow version of Tessa, I mean who knows. ⭐Grab tickets through the link in my bio to avoid disappointment!⭐

I've always been quite picky with who I hang out with. I was never interested in hanging out with people because of their success or name, after the first two years in London I actually shunned certain situations because every now and again I found myself in rooms with famous people and their friends who made people feel bad and were excused for it for who they were. 🤦 This year my career has shifted and changed and I now find myself lucky enough to be invited to wonderful events with brilliant people because of the work I do. At the beginning I was nervous – do I fit in here? Have they accidentally invited me? With they think I'm stupid? Too loud? I found out pretty quickly that I'm Invited to certain events and projects ~because~ they're made up of like-minded people. 🧠 People just like me who have the same insecurities - however successful they are - and goals to make the world a better place for everyone. The moral of the story is just do you, ignore everyone else, create what you love, shout about what you're passionate about and you might just find yourself exactly where you need to be. 🤙 In this case, for me that is drunk and full of chocolate cake wearing a pink suit and taking selfies in a public restroom. ️

What kind of person pops into your head when you think of politics? What about publishing? Or Finance? For too long positions of power have had certain identities, so creating active change and blurring the boundaries between 'us' and 'them' is key. Sure, my playful pink-suit wearing female ass is an anomoly in modern day politics, but I'm still our societies idea of power; white, privileged, slim. 🧠 I recognise that. When it comes to changing things, there is so much value in our differences. A system doesn't work properly if it's only full of one type of person - it can only cater to the people who run it. That's why it's key we gobble up the experiences of other, put ourselves in other people's shoes, consider new perspectives and value compassion, empathy and discussion. I'm always looking to fill up my feed with people to learn from. Who do you love online who is changing things for the better? Tag them here please!

@benita_robledo @tollydollyposh thanks love!

Today the platform that launched exactly when I needed it has come back bigger and better than ever with a new website. @gurlstalk has and always will be a safe space for us to openly discuss important topics - mental health, race, sex, gender... It's all there. 🧠 For their re-launch I wrote a letter to my future self. ️ There have been times during this campaign where I have had to stop, have a big old cry and reset, and what's been hard is having no one to advise me. ️ I don't know anyone who has tried to change the law on their own, I don't know anyone who has gone into the Houses of Parliament and dealt with something like this as an political outsider. I ~always~ look to people around me for help and advice and this is the first thing ive done that no one in my life can truly understand and advise me on, so, when GURLS Talk asked me to write for them I jumped at the chance of writing a letter to my future self; an honest and kind (which is rare) conversation with myself that, hopefully, when it gets hard again, will keep me going! Yay for being supportive to ourselves like we would with those we love. Read it through the link in my bio or my highlights 🧠

Mental health is something I'm not an expert on. Because I am one of the few who is incredibly lucky to have good mental health. I think about how lucky I am in that respect often. Yes, I have on and off problems with anxiety, that manifests itself in physical ways (throwing up in the street anyone?! Cool.) but bouts are rare and I am blessed to only have that to deal with. 🧠 On #WorldMentalHealthDay I wanted to hold myself accountable; I talk a lot on this platform about positivity and the power of choosing to shift your perspective – or to put it in lamely 'look on the bright side' – but I know 'happiness' is not always a choice. For some it's not often an option, for others, it hasn't been for years. ️ Your mental health is the single most important priority. When we prioritise ourselves, talk about our issues, get help, accept help, admit we're scared, things can get better and we all deserve that liberation. In the spirit of today, I though I'd scrape the veneer off this page for a second and show you that beneath all the colour and paint smudges and smiles, there are still down days - though mine are only blips it's still important for me to show you. Because I don't want this to be a place of only perfection. Talk to each other, about everything. Communication is the cure for so much. ️ #behindthefilter

Just a friendly reminder to not make yourself quieter, talk slower, more palatable, easier to digest.️ Those who think you're too much are just not the ones for you.I spent my whole life being told, or thinking I'm 'very loud', 'too much' or — the worst — 'annoying'.🤦‍️⭐ Boys I used to date would sometimes even tell me to take a 'time out'. Activism is about putting yourself in uncomfortable situations. It would be easy to only do panels and speak at kick-ass, fun feminist events, and although doing that gives me absolute ~life~, it's critical I use my voice in spaces they wouldn't usually be. HR professionals and leading industry authorities need to be inspired to make traditional work environments better for everyone, just as much as women need female only space to feel supported and heard, so heading to business expos and other places I just don't belong is important. Using your voice is the , and speaking to people who may not actively constantly engage in the conversation is even more important. Top tip? Always wear something that makes you feel confident and like you mean business. For instance, I would wear this huge fluffy @lazyoafs coat because it makes me feel like some sort of feminist tiger. 🤩

I thought I'd reintroduced myself because so many lovely extra humans have joined my colourful little corner of the web. ️ My name's Gina and I like changing laws as well as dogs and red wine. ️ I'm a firm believer that everyone, especially of us who aren't privileged white men, have the tools to create real fucking change is this little world of ours, (despite what we are told) and that social media should be used for good. 'The annoying truth is, so much of society convinces women they're not enough, or don't have the power – especially marginalised groups. And for the powerful, it's far easier if we all just sit back and do as we're told. But SPOILER ALERT we have the ability to change things, and more power in this digital age than we've ever had – the tricky bit is believing we can do it. Self belief starts with knowing who you are and working on confidence. Confidence doesn't come easy, it's something you have to work at.' I know Self Care is a big new buzzword, but what does it mean for you? Genuinely interested. 🤔 Is it as easy as a facemask and or a bath to de-stress you or is it the difficult decision you have to make to cut out toxic relationships or perhaps changing your friendships? It's a funny one, I don't see it as a word that evokes anything but positive feelings - to me it's a zeitgeisty welcome concept that makes people priorituse themselves - but I know some people think differently. How do you feel about self care and how do you do it? I've added the technical definition here because its always good: Self careactions taken themselves, on behalf of and with others in order to develop, protect, maintain and improve their health, wellbeing or wellness.

I love living in London. 🇬🇧 For all of our faults, this place is overflowing with creativity, ideas, and I feel so lucky to be soaking up experiences in a city thats a marble of different cultures, backgrounds and types of people - it's a place of ideas, of tolerance and of energy. I popped into @lfw_festival today and I felt pretty excited about the #positivefashion intiative they're focusing on as well as the push towards sustainability. It is, by no means enough yet, but people like @amy_powney (@motherofpearl) are going to great lengths to create traceable, sustainable and ethical clothing and I'm so excited about it - because it's also really effing cool stuff too. You're kick ass, Amy! I wore this shirt from their new sustainable line as a dress and added a second hand matador hat, jacket and boots - I felt like a western cowgirl all day. 🤠 But an ethical one! ⭐

Over the past 5 years it's become increasingly apparent what my loves are. Feminism, the earth and fashion are v v close to my heart. 🤗 Feminism because I'm an incredibly privileged white female and I have a job to do. ‍‍‍🧕 The earth because I have woken up to the realization that we all have a big part to play in protecting our glorious home planet , and fashion because self-expression and having confidence is ~key~ when it comes to believing in myself and doing things on my own terms. On sunday, i'll be indulging in the latter and heading to my first @londonfashionweek shows and I'm so excited! I'll be taking over #lfw sponsors @bounce_uk Instagram page for the day and probably being an idiot so come and say Hi! Also - and this makes my heart so happy - i'll be dressed by @motherofpearl, a wonderful conscious label, and winner of @vogue designer fashion fund. They've created a sustainable collection called NO FRILLS focusing on everything from low carbon footprint and low water consumption, to respect for animals and natural, recycled fibers. 🦓 its not easy to be ethical in fashion production so RESPECT, guys - can't wait to pair those sweet threads with my £3 charity shop finds!

They say you have to put out the kind of vibes you want and you'll get them back, and it turns out that's pretty dead on because wearing odd socks gets you some prettttty odd looks. That's alright though, because life is ~not~ about taking yourself seriously and doing what you're told It's about the exact opposite, and on this day I wanted to dress like a millenial pink chimney sweep and wear odd socks, because it sort of makes me laugh when people don't get what I'm wearing. It makes me feel proud to be moi. 🧦

PSA: I do not look this like right now ‍️ I forgot to wash my hair and am feeling v sluggish today. recently, I've seen a lot of people calling out women on social media for voicing their insecurities about putting on weight or their bodies changing. To be honest, i'm having one of those phases where I feel a bit . I am the unhealthiest I've been in years and I have put on weight, and although putting on weight is no bad thing, for someone who used to enjoy the gym 5 times a week and swim down to the seabed and lay heavy anchors, it's an adjustment because I don't feel like myself at the moment. 🤷 Its very easy in the age of fists-in-the-air-feminism and (the great) body positivity movement to feel like you shouldn't communicate, or be honest about feeling crappy about yourself. But we still live in a society that plays on our insecurities and we still live in the patriarchy; yes we should do our best to fight negativity and body shaming, but it's okay to feel weird about your body and communicate it because we all do. The worst thing we can do for eachother is shame people for shaming themselves and expect those we look up to to only have or communicate positive feelings about themselves, because for a lot of people that's not realistic - it's not authentic. If comments are damaging or constantly negative, fair enough, but otherwise we have to allow people the space to be real. To be human.

If you see someone you follow on social media, would you go up and say hello? ️️ We live in a time where the people we admire aren't infallible, perfect unreachable celebrities but real people who are a capable of mistakes, live normal lives, forget to shave their legs and fuck up on the regs. But because we see them on a screen that shows a curated version of their lives, we hold them accountable to the same perfect standards we hold used to hold celebrities to, because we though they had it all. Nowadays we know better. We know that everyone's fighting a battle we cannot see, and that everyone - no matter how much money or admiration they have - is just a person doing their best. With this in mind remember these two things: 1) Try and be kind. I've never received negative messages on here but recently I've had a few come from nowhere and I have no time for negativity. 🤷 2) If you see me around, always feel free to come and say hello — it's lovely when I get to meet people who believe in the work I do or just want to pass on some positivity.
