The answer is NO! Of course not. Everything you need to know about the Whole30 program is available for free on the Whole30 website. You can absolutely do a Whole30 solo, in fact, that’s how I did my first round!

With that said, hiring a Certified Whole30 coach is a GAME CHANGER. Do you know how many people I’ve talked to that have told me “Well, I’ve TRIED to do a Whole30 a few different times now...but I’ve never been able to make it the Whole 30 days” This is unfortunate but also normal, friends! Taking on something as epic as a Whole30 is A LOT of work. If you don’t go into it we’ll prepared + with a solid support system, it can be difficult to follow through on that commitment to yourself.

It’s #tacotuesday made taco salad. Does that count? Lol. I’ve been cleaning my house all morning yet it looks exactly the same! How does that happen?? Now that lunch is done and dinner we are having leftovers my cooking for the day is done! 
Soo I’m still working on having probiotics and fiber in most meals. To my taco salad I added lentils and avocado (fiber) and I added a spoonful of yogurt (probiotics) not pictured. Also has lettuce, onion, tomato, and black olives.

@erinnlauchner @curtispatrick1 I live in Phoenix, Arizona...so I’m probably not your best resource for that one! You can go to the Whole30 website and search for a Whole30 certified coach like me in your area, and browse through the list of Whole30 approved partners and brands. You might even try searching for Whole30 Facebook groups in your area. I know there are other coaches in Europe and people successfully complete Whole30 all over the world so I’m sure there are compliant brands available to you! Good luck 👍🏻

For me meditation is my go-to to keep my mind calm and after months of practice I’ve finally started drifting into meditation in my Yoga practice too  It doesn’t last very long but it’s an incredible feeling and funnily enough it most often happens when I’m in a really challenging posture. So my commitment this week is to meditate & do more Yoga. How about you?

HEALTHY DOESN’T HAVE TO BE BORING - My biggest tip for eating more vegetables is to use LOTS of spices,nuts , oils & seeds and rub them all over your veggies so, that when you cook them they are soft on the inside and hard & crunchy on the outside & with each bite there’s lots of flavour & texture. Same with salads experiment with creating your own nourishing dressings - combine Olive oil with nuts,spices and cook coconut sugar, vinegar or lime to create some magical 🧙‍️ concoctions of your own Rub salads with mashed Avocado and kids are more likely to give them a go 🥑🥑🥑🥑🥑🥑Here’s my Veggie Prep - Sautéed Silverbeet ( olive oil, lemon & paprika) oven baked pumpkin  with paprika, garlic & Pepitas seeds, pan fried Zucchini with olive oil salt l, paprika & ginger. Such a good idea to have them prepped as I usually just toss them on top of a heap of greens some tuna or salmon or turkey. Lunch & healthy snacking sorted. When I first heard about Melissa Hartwig’s Whole30 program I was interested + impressed, but shrugged it off as something that someone like ME could never actually do. Can anyone relate?

I loved learning that the Whole30 was NOT a diet, but rather a short term (30 day) elimination experiment designed to help you identify how certain foods may be affecting YOUR body (because we are all different). Throughout this process your body has a chance to recalibrate. Your hormones will return to normal, your blood sugar will be regulated, your digestive system and gut will heal, your cravings will lessen and even diminish, your tastes will change, and you will be able to evaluate your relationship with food...forming new + healthier habits in the process! After completing your Whole30 you then systematically reintroduce each food group back into your diet and evaluate how it works for you. Armed with this new knowledge, and a greater awareness for your previously unconscious habits and feelings around food, you can go forward in life practicing what Melissa calls “food freedom”... making conscious + deliberate decisions about what is worth eating in the moment, and then enjoying every last bite of said food without any guilt or shame.

⬆️ That was my take away from first hearing about the Whole30. Sounds amazing, huh?

I sat on that hope for weeks without taking any action. But I just couldn’t get the idea out of my head. So eventually, I went all in and completed my first Whole30. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. The Whole30 truly changed my life!

hit up evergreen brickworks farmers market this saturday to check out the @thejoyalife goodies i’ve been seeing so much on my instagram feed lately. i got to sample their full line from granolas, to nut butters, to elixirs, and let me tell ya it was all SO delicious that it was hard to pick just a couple of products to bring home. it took me a little while to decide but i ended up getting the open sesame granola (love their cute naming!) and the bliss elixir. i’m already obsessed with both - the granola is A-MAZ-ING and the elixir is bomb. today i made a smoothie bowl featuring both to double up on the awesomeness. details below

+ 1/2 cup @earthsowncanada unsweetened almond milk
+ 100g frozen zucchini
+ 1/4 of a frozen banana
+ 60g frozen dark cherries
+ 80g frozen wild blueberries
+ 1/2 scoop @genuinehealth vanilla vegan protein powder
+ 1 scoop @amazinggrass greens powder in chocolate
+ 1 tbsp @thejoyalife bliss elixir
+ 50g spinach

Made radish salsa yesterday. Oh my word. It was amazing. I don't really miss nightshades for the most part but I do miss salsa. We let this one sit in the fridge all day yesterday and then made nachos with @simplemills crackers, grass fed beef and raw cheese. Yum yum! It's been a couple years since I had salsa! 
Simple to make too. Chop up your radishes, mix in cilantro, juice of 1 lime, garlic, green onion and salt. Don't even measure, just mix and create. Pop it in the fridge for a few hours and enjoy! .

@treehouse.daily @almorian there was no measuring, just chopped up some radishes, about 1/2 a bunch of cilantro, some green onion, couple cloves of garlic and sprinkled it with pink kosker salt and the juice of a lime and stuck it in the fridge. We made it after breakfast and had it with dinner. Yum yum

I made stewed apricots and blackberries with honey and vanilla  And now they are sitting in the fridge waiting for pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, and the like! 🥞 I might even use it to flavor my kombucha!  Not wasting food doesn’t have to look like eating it all up super fast before it goes bad. You can cook it, can it, freeze it, dehydrate it, etc... ️ .

Trying to get back to normal life and rhythms and part of that for me is healthy eating and sharing recipes with you all! Matt and Ry were gone tonight so I decided to make something special just for me ️ A little hiccup was that I used Instacart grocery delivery and ended up with a *not* dairy free cauliflower crust like I was planning, but after a day of not fueling myself well at work I decided to just go for it and eat it because well, blood sugar and hanger. Here’s what you need: •GF/DF cauliflower crust. •sautéed veggies (I did butternut squash, mushroom, and zucchini)

•Prosciutto
•Trader Joe’s balsamic glaze 
So quick and easy. I sautéed the veggies in avo oil first. Baked the crust for 6ish minutes and then added all the toppings and put it back in for a couple of minutes. Then drizzled it all with balsamic glaze (if you’ve never tried this.... just do it, it will change your life.)

@jana.realfood @mrs_gardenbuzz nope: it's the cheese. It's happened before with other cheese dishes. (I just keep wishing I was wrong, & trying it again! ) And I can eat tomatoes without a problem. Dairy is pretty commonly known to cause acne, says an aesthetician I know.

During my quick trip to TJ’s the other day, I grabbed a container of precut jicama because #cheap and because I was intrigued. Last year when doing keto before , I used jicama in beef stew instead of potatoes and it was great! Kinda forgot about them until I saw them again at TJ’s 🤷‍️ All I did was boil them for ten minutes to soften, then tossed in avo oil and seasonings and popped in the oven for a bit to cook more and crisp up. I actually put them on my plate and snapped some pics before realizing they weren’t quite cooked through. So I put these back in the oven after the pics. Then FORGOT ABOUT THEM because  sooooooo then they were a little over done. But still good 🤗🤗

What better way to spend a rainy (and frankly cold) Thursday afternoon than making dark chocolate rye-gestives to take to my sister’s for teatime? (Recipe from @rivercottagehq / @urban_deriver’s book Light and Easy.)
 
This is the latest addition to my ever-expanding recipe bookshelf (I average 1-2 new recipe books a month ). It focuses entirely on wheat-free, dairy-free recipes, but without using crappy or expensive ingredients, maintaining a focus on no-nonsense, wholefood, nutrient dense, low-sugar food. It’s great. This whole batch of 19 biscuits has just 50g of sugar but I reckon I could easily reduce the sugar down to half or even less, as suggested in the book, without feeling hard done by. Fab book for inspiration on practical, healthy eating.

I’ve read Gary Taubes’s Why We Get Fat many times but I always come back to it. It’s a long read, but delivered in an easy-to-understand style - probably stems from the fact he’s a journalist rather than a scientist!

This was the first book I ever read that got me started down the food-for-medicine path. It opened my eyes and frankly made me feel horrified by all the lies we had been fed (no pun intended!) about good nutrition.

Talk about quick n' easy- we can't get enough of our Baked Stuffed Peppers recipe! Deets ⬇️
Ingredients:
- 1 box (8 ounces) #TolerantFoods Green #Lentil Rotini
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- ½ cup frozen corn kernels
- ⅓ cup chopped cilantro
- 4 large multi-colored bell peppers, halved lengthwise, seeds removed
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (4 ounces)
- Chopped cilantro

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375℉
2. Lightly oil a 9” square baking dish
3. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add pasta, stir, and cook until tender, 8-10 minutes. Drain well
4. In a large bowl, whisk together sour cream, chili powder, salt, onion powder, and garlic powder. Add pasta and toss to coat, then stir in tomatoes, corn, and cilantro.
5. Place peppers in prepared baking dish and fill with pasta mixture. Sprinkle with cheese and bake until heated through and cheese is melted, about 25 minutes. Garnish with cilantro
