November Essential Rewards order! So much good stuff here, not all of it for us though. A few things were added for others who just wanted to try one thing a s fun! For us, I was really happy to get Seedlings wipes because you guys know I love to use them as make up remover wipes. They smell amazing and leave my skin so soft. I’m also really excited for a new bottle of Thieves to make our wellness rollers, especially important for the colder months ahead.  Another favourite is Frankincense because it has sooo many benefits (Google this one!) and makes me feel calm like nothing else when I smell it.  We’re also trying some of the einkorn products for the first time. Einkorn is an ancient grain low in gluten and higher in nutrition than regular flour. The flakes are really good! The pancake/waffle does taste a little different than regular flour, but my kids gave it a thumbs up.

Fast, Nutritious & Delicious ‍️ Savoury Egg Pancake

2 eggs 
2 tbsp Almond flour (blend almonds)
2 tbsp Oat flour or Tapioca Starch 
1 tbsp of Natural Coconut or Greek yogurt 
1 tsp of Extra Virgin Olive oil 
1/2 tsp of Bicarb
Hard Cheese and/or Nutritional Yeast (optional)
Salt and Oregano
1/2 cup of Spinach, collards or any leafy green of your choice. .

Mix all the ingredients into a bowl,  pour the mixture in a frying pan and cook both sides like a pancake   Top it up with your favourites, avo, mushrooms, zuchinni or just eat as it is.  Enjoy

I finally decided to have my hair dyed after about 3 years of my natural hair color. I also loved that while I got my hair done the stylist and I figured out we were both doing the same workout program!!! I’ve been on a huge blueberry kick for sweets lately, especially when it’s a combo of coconut and blueberry 🤤. — my favorite type of muffin is blueberry so I had to attempt to make my own, healthier version. These are vegan, paleo, dairy, gluten, & refined sugar free! Only 3 tbsp of added sugar in the entire recipe — •

Wet -1/4 c coconut oil
-1 c mashed banana -3 tbsp maple syrup -3 flax eggs (3 tbsp ground flax + 6 tbsp water — let soak for 15+ min before adding to wet ingredient bowl). -1/3 c creamy peanut butter -1 tsp pure vanilla extract -1/2 c fresh blueberries 
Dry:
-1 cup almond flour -1/2 c coconut flour -1/4 c coconut shreds
-2 tsp baking powder -1 to 2 tsp cinnamon ** preheat oven to 350. mix wet ingredients (make sure flax eggs are settled, and hold off on blueberries until the end) and dry ingredients in separate bowls. Then mix together and add in blueberries. Then bake at 350 for 30-35 min. Eye them and use a toothpick to see if they’re done!

Hey, it only took four months to lose ten pounds! And all thanks to magic pills, gimmicky shakes and detox teas. 
JK it’s called I drag my weary @$$ out of bed and off the couch and eat 80% great and 20% ‘it was this or starve’ and I’ve been the hungriest girl since ‘79.🤭There is no room for malnutrition.
Eat well, eat right, move your butt a lil bit (or a lot!) and find YOUR balance in life. Not someone else’s. Stop finding excuses not to engage in life and start figuring ways to get what you want. 
Is this my end game? 🤬Hell no. Working 7 days a week has taken its toll and I am working towards building more muscle and keeping up with regular cardio because, hate to say it, but I maybe love cardio a little... it’s hard as hell for me therefore makes me feel bad@$$. Life changes, roll with the ebb and flow and revise your goals! There is always a reason to keep moving forward! (And not because your 21 yr old self got a #trampstamp in 2000 and now you’re a mom with no money to get a cover-up so it might as well look good.)

WHOA! HELLO face-to-face progress pic….I’ve never done this before. Gosh, I have grown & changed so much these past few years! The old me felt purposeless, lost, had a lot of self-doubt, and had the WORST anxiety!  I wanted to get BACK to the real ME! But instead of DOING anything about it, I would drink wine, watch Bravo, eat “healthy” food and feel sorry for myself! The Mom on the left didn’t know there was a way OUT. You see Dave and I had an extra thing in common, we both had diabetes and have now reversed our diabetes which is totally amazing to me. In his own words... Dave says, “I hit my highest weight a few years after we had our first child. My relationship with food was out of control. Food and I have had a love/hate relationship practically my whole life. I tried other weight loss programs and got results, but they never lasted.

I was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 in 2012. I was told I could control it with my diet, and I was even prescribed this health program a few months later by my doctor. Nothing anyone said made me care enough to change my habits.

In the next few years, I started experiencing some very negative effects of my diabetes. My Health Coach wife and my 9 year old daughter were finally able to convince me to start changing my habits. It turned out to be one of the easiest things I’ve ever done.

COOKIE DOUGH BITES coming right up-and the secret ingredient..chickpeas! Seems crazy, but they are mild, so you can’t taste them and adds protein + fiber.

5 simple ingredients:
•1 can of chickpeas (de-skinned)
•1/2 cup @tedpeanutbutter
• 1/4 maple syrup
•1 cup almond flour
•1/3 chocolate chips
Blend all together in food processor and mix in chips. Roll into balls and place in freezer

Switched it up tonight and made homemade sweet potato chips (which are a must try if you like sweet potatoes at all!), then topped them with two types of beans, red onion, peppers, tomatoes, scallions, cilantro, Mexican cheese,  jalapeños (optional but a hit in my house), and lots of chunky avocado... and post photo, a drizzle of sour cream . Tastes indulgent but packed with goodness and so YUMMY!.

Dinnerrrrrr!!!!! Instant pot Chicken shawarma salad. 
So much flavor in this chicken recipe. 
2 small yellow onions 
Olive oil
Black pepper
Garlic powder
Cumin
Turmeric
Cinnamon
Allspice
Paprika
Chili powder
Oregano
Lemon juice
2lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts

Turn instant pot to sauté, add olive oil and onions
Sauté onions until soft
Add all spices and lemon juice and stir to combine
Add chicken breasts (frozen)
Secure lid, set valve to sealing
Set instant pot to high pressure 
Cook 25-30 minutes
Quick release when complete
Slice chicken and place on top off salad. 
For the salad:

Romaine lettuce
Pickled turnip
Tomato
Red onion
Cucumber
Red pepper
Black olives
Salt
Pepper
Parsley

Top salad with chicken, garlic sauce and a splash of red wine vinegar.

Guilt = fear of foods, lack of control around food, a restrict and binge mentality, no clear idea of what’s best for our bodies, constant stress when deciding what to eat, and sometimes we even avoid places and people we love so we don’t have to be around the foods that make us feel bad (think any social function with food).

Now let’s look at what we get when we let go of guilt. We get our lives back, we can stop eating when we’re full, we don’t have to avoid people, places, or things that involve food, our stress around food is gone and the restrict/binge mentality fades away.

You might not realize it but what you tell yourself day to day will either uplift you or bring you down! For the longest time I told myself that I was a failure and I was never going to get back on track with my nutrition and fitness. That I’d never lose the weight that I’d gained back and that I didn’t deserve to be healthier and happier.

I actually believed that I’d never regain control of my life and be able to overcome my struggles with depression and anxiety! I’d lost all hope, wanted to give up and told myself I’d never be good enough. But deep down in my heart even as difficult as all this has been, I knew I had to keep fighting! I know without a doubt that this is all happening for a reason and I’m so grateful that God is in control!

I’ve made taking care of myself a priority and it feels amazing to be back in control! My whole mindset has changed and I’m so excited that I’m staying consistent with my nutrition and fitness. Will it always be easy? Of course not and there will always be obstacles and struggles! But I’m so much more confident now and know that I’m strong enough to overcome them.

I’m hoping that this post will at least touch one person’s heart! You are capable of doing amazing things and when those thoughts of doubts race through your mind.....tell yourself that you’ve got this! This is a smile of a person transformed! Just 4 short months ago I started my journey to health and I never could have imagined the impact it would make on my life. Otherwise, I would have started much sooner! I was extremely overweight, lacking energy, hating my body, unsuccessfully trying to shake severe depression that had its grip on me for over 3 years, and my immune system was fried. I was desperate to feel better. In every sense. I had no idea where to start. I had already tried everything before. I had tasted success, but nothing with staying power. One thing was clear. Something had to change. I had this nagging voice in my head that I was headed for a serious health crisis! But I had no willpower, I thought I was sure to fail. Having zero confidence in myself I scowered the internet for answers. I kept seeing all of this stuff about keto. Eat FAT to get healthy? Asinine! Terrified of gaining even more weight I very apprehensively started giving it a try. Give it two months, I told myself. And much to my surprise every ailment began to improve! This discovery has changed my life. Now I'm fulfilling a calling to try to motivate others to experience the same for themselves. Your feeling hungry and you have a hankering for something sweet and you just can’t shake it! .
.
What do you do? .
.
Give into temptation and munch mindlessly on that chocolate bar or chocolate almonds?
.
.
Why don’t you try this simple and delicious protein pudding/ fudge recipe! I’m telling you it’ll kill that sweet tooth and you won’t feel guilty for it! .
.
All you need is..... .
.
▶️1 scoop whey protein isolate .
▶️1-2 tbsp natural peanut butter or almond butter
.
▶️very little amount of cold water. .
.
The instructions and it may take you 1-2 try’s to get the consistency the way you want it. 
1️⃣place 1 scoop of whey isolate in a container 
2️⃣add 1-2 tbsp of natural peanut butter or almond butter 
3️⃣water- this is the tricky part.... slowly run cold water down the side of the container, you want very little water (just enough to mix everything) when you think you need more stop! 
4️⃣Mix everything together with a spoon, if it’s too runny add a little more protein powder and use less water next time. 
6️⃣now to make it like fudge! Stick the container in the fridge for 45-60 minutes to let harder slightly. .

This little craving killer will ensure you stay on track with your nutrition and keep that sweet tooth satisfied!

Recipe for a 10-minute weeknight dinner:
️ Sauté veggies
️ Microwave a sweet potato (pierce with fork, wrap in damp paper towel, & nuke for 5-10 mins depending on size)
️ Heat leftover protein (meal prep key here!)
For this dinner I had some leftover shrimp and homemade cocktail sauce that went perfectly with the green beans+ a side of Brussels sprouts. 
To be honest... I did not eat all of this. A big plate of healthy food is still a big plate ‍️ Half the potato, brussels, and green beans were saved for lunch the next day. But I definitely ate all those shrimp!

 Happy Tuesday loves! I wanted to share two things tonight. 1) I have been SO extremely obsessed with butternut squash for the last month or little over a month now and guess what? Still obsessed  it goes great with veggies, quinoa, ground turkey or even a little brown sugar on top! I totally forgot it’s super good mashed up (was always a fav of mine at Thanksgiving 🤩) The smell of it is definitely a favorite of mine too...just not cutting it up! 🤯 okay now number 2) I finally got my glass straws in the mail and I’m SO excited about it! Glass straws are so so much better than plastic or even stainless steel. Why? Well one, they are reusable, biodegradable, handmade, BPA-free, hypoallergenic, and have nontoxic colors! Definitely worth the money, and why wouldn’t you want to help the earth  and treat it with care? Come on now! •

Homemade Ginger Juice! After making this the last 2.5 months as part of my regimen I have found this recipe to be the easiest! 
Need:
1 medium piece of fresh ginger 
1 Lime 
1 T. Manuka honey 
Filtered water 
Cut ginger into cubes and place in Vitamix blender with 6 cups of water. Squeeze the juice from 1 lime + 1 T. Manuka honey. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes. Pour mixture through a milk cloth into glass container. Add filtered water as needed to dilute. Store in fridge and enjoy within 3-4 days.

Srsly though, I appreciate the aesthetic of some of the intricate food Instagram accounts out there, but to me most of those recipes are not realistic for the average person who is busy all the time and training all of the time.

I firmly believe the easiest and best way to eat healthier is to simplify it as much as possible.
.
I understand that those fancy recipes can come in handy to keep you from getting bored in the kitchen, but for most of the population it’s not about boring meals begin the primary concern but rather about knowing what exactly constitutes as healthy and balanced meals in the first place.
.
The lack of education is the biggest issue I’ve seen working as a dietitian. I coach my clients to include the fats, protein, carbs and fiber in EVERY MEAL.
Yes portion control plays a part.
Yes nutrient timing plays a part.
Yes diet restrictions play a part.
BUT in general, all you have to do is LOAD UP on a variety of veggies on a daily basis, make sure your eating some form of protein and fat with every meal & THAT IS ALL FOLKS.
.
Stop eating junk/processed food/fast food. It’s only doing you harm and hindering your performance.
.

Anyone else become a dragon  when they come home from work? Just me....

Right when I get home is the toughest time of the day for my nutrition. I am HANGRY! That is why I have been timing my smoothies as a afternoon snack. I come home have this baby as my snack and the inner dragon is tamed lol

I know that is a pretty ridiculous description 🤣 but girl it’s the truth! This smoothie has made all the difference for my sugar cravings!  Tastes like = 🥗 Before starting this journey I felt like this smoothie, magical elixir  was overrated and too expensive, I will be totally honest with you all about that! But 4 dollars a day for a delicious snack that pulls me away from the pantry/fridge has been so worth it, especially when nothing else has worked before. What better to invest in than your health

Honestly though, the importance of clean air/air pollution is not talked enough in the wellness community. Try to walk, carpool, or take public transportation when you can— let’s help out our earth and fellow humans.

I love being surrounded by plants (yes, this is  in a garden and not wild), the air always seems so much fresher—I mean you’re with the source of some fresh oxygen!! •
Too bad I haven’t managed to keep a plant alive yet  due to always having a crazy schedule/being on the go.
